New Year milongas in Helsinki  
for double role & queer tango dancers

Welcome to spend an unforgettable long New Year's weekend in Helsinki dancing your feet off at four (or even five) consecutive milongas! There will also be some extra activities in the afternoons for those interested (paid separately).

If you already arrive on Thursday 28.12. you can dance at a weekly Milonga del Jueves at 20–23:30 (Entrance fee 10 € / for Amigos del Tango members 7 € )

Friday, Saturday and Monday milongas are aimed especially for double role and queer tango dancers. One role dancers may also join – nevertheless, they are kindly asked to arrive with a friend that dances the opposite role so that the role balance stays appropriate. 

​

Venue for all milongas: El Ático dance studio, Kumpulantie 1 (in Itä-Pasila neighbourhood), 8th floor. The studio is run by a local non-profit tango association Amigos del Tango (AdT) and has excellent floor for dancing & cosy atmosphere. 50 € early bird, until 30th of November

60 € regular price, 1st – 27th of December
 

  • Non-member residents of Finland:

70 € early bird, until 30th of November

80 € regular price, 1st – 27th of December

SINGLE ENTRANCE FEES

(sold at the door if there is space, payment by card only)


Friday and Saturday:

20 € for AdT members and people living abroad
25 € for non-member residents of Finland

 

Sunday and Monday:

15 € for AdT members and people living abroad
20 € for non-member residents of Finland

At the Sunday New Year's Eve potluck milonga everyone is asked to bring their share for the potluck table (= some food/drinks to share). Closer to the date we will provide a list of suggestions about what to bring. 

At all other milongas we offer some snacks like pastries, bread with toppings, coffee, tea etc. There are several restaurants within walking distance from El Ático, to visit for a dinner whenever you feel like it. You may also order take away or bring your own food and warm it at El Ático's fully equipped kitchen.

There is no bar at El Ático so you are free to bring with you whichever drinks you prefer to enjoy.

Extra Activities

 

For those interested, we are planning for some extra activities for the afternoons (paid separately). For example:
 

  • Shared lunch on Friday at a nearby restaurant

  • Bake together -workshop at El Ático: Finnish Christmas pastries; on Friday after lunch, before the milonga (free of charge)

  • Sauna & outdoors swimming possibility in the city on Saturday / Sunday (locations & prices TBA)

  • A small museum / city sightseeing tour on Saturday / Sunday (locations & entrance fees TBA)

  • Tango practica at El Ático on Saturday / Sunday (practice fee of 5 €)

  • Something else, would you even like to organise it? Throw out your suggestions!

In the form we are asking for the participants' interest for these activities and plan the details accordingly. Closer to the event we'll send info about what will be happening for all registrated participants.

Cancellation policy: Milonga pass payments can be returned in case of cancellation until 27.12. (except for possible money transfer fees).
