Association
The aim of the Amigos del Tango Association, founded in 1997, is to maintain and develop the hobby and knowledge of Argentine tango in Finland.
Amigos del Tango is a registered and non-profit association that aims to increase the popularity of Argentine tango by organizing various events and informing about events related to Argentine tango.
Amigos del Tango's facilities and events aim to provide safer spaces for everyone, and follow the Safer Space Principles: Everyone is Welcome, Freedom to Choose, and Speak Up.
Detailed Safer Space Principles can be found on the Safety page.

Activities
The association organizes milongas, or dance evenings, where Argentine tango, waltz and milonga are danced to the accompaniment of recorded or live music. Amigos del Tango's tango weekends and camps offer the opportunity to learn Argentine tango with the guidance of both Finnish and foreign teachers. The largest annual event is the urban international Argentine tango festival Tango Frostbite, held in Helsinki in February, which brings together hundreds of Argentine tango enthusiasts to dance and learn tango. Our other major annual events are the Summer Tango Camp and Helsinki Milonga Weekend.
The association has rented and renovated the El Ático dance studio and practice facilities for its members, at Kumplantie 1 (8th floor), Helsinki. Weekly milongas are organized there every Thursday and Sunday, with some exceptions such as the summer break and some public holidays. Atico's events are announced on this website and on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/elaticohelsinki/

The association's membership fee is 25 euros/calendar year.
The Board

Pekka Kahri
Chair, DJ manager
I became interested in Argentine tango music in the early 2000s and a few years later I dared to try dancing with my husband. Since then I have been actively dancing, volunteering, and since 2023 I have served as the chair of the association's board.

Kirsi Laatikainen
Vice chair
I have been practicing tango for a long time. My activity has varied depending on my life situation. I find it enriching to meet people from all over the world, from different cultures and ages in the tango community. What we all have in common is finding a connection through dance.

Tomi Liski
Secretary
I started dancing Argentine tango in 2009. Since then, my wife and I have been actively dancing tango. I was a member of the board of directors of Adt since the early 2010s and was involved in the founding of El Ático. On the board, I handle, among other things, space reservations and rental agreements.

Juha Keponen
Board member, hosting team
I started tango there in 2018 and it has taken off since then. I am responsible for managing hosting team of our weekly milongas.

Leila Oksa
Board member, communications
After a long history of dancing varied couple dances, I returned to the world of tango and El Ático a few years ago. At AdT, I was first involved in the cleaning team, then as a treasurer and in the organizing teams for the Summer Camp and Sunday practicas. In 2026, I work as the association's communications officer and continue organizing double role events.
