Safer Space

Amigos del Tango's facilities and events aim to provide safer spaces for everyone, and adhere to the principles of a safer space: Everyone is welcome, Freedom to choose, and Speak up.

A person who, despite feedback, repeatedly disrupts and behaves inappropriately or disrespectfully towards others may be removed from the events and, in extreme cases, the Amigos del Tango board may impose a ban on participation in the association's events and facilities.

If you notice disruptive behavior or other irregularities at AdT's events or facilities, you can report it to us using the contact form below.

Everyone is Welcome

Anyone interested in dancing and learning Argentine Tango is welcome, regardless of dance ability, dance role, sexual orientation, age, disability, ethnicity, or nationality.

Unsolicited advice or loud comments about another person's dance style or manner are not welcome, with the exception of respectful advice given to avoid a dangerous or uncomfortable situation.

Freedom to Choose

Because Argentine tango is an intimate dance that is often danced in close contact, everyone should have the opportunity to choose who they dance with, how close they dance, and what kinds of moves are okay.

A close abrazo on the dance floor does not constitute consent to intimacy off the dance floor. Consent to close dance can be withdrawn at any time, and everyone has the right to stop dancing if they wish.

Speak Up

If another person’s touch, words or other behavior makes you feel uncomfortable, we encourage you to provide feedback directly to the person whose behavior bothered you. If this does not help or the situation threatens your safety, you can report the matter to the event host, the lesson instructor, or a member of the AdT board.
